The nose on this hugely rewarding, ripe and aromatic Chenin is all lemons meringue pie. The palate is huge but alive with bright orangey fruit, sweetly nuanced oak corners with a bright, mineral flash. Stunningly pleasing glass of old fashioned Chenin that sings of the 40 year old dry-grown bush vines from which it hails. Perdeberg have absolutely made their dry land vineyards their thing.
located in Paarl in the heart of the Boland of the Western Cape, enjoys one of the finest wine-growing regions of the Cape. Established as a co-operative in 1941, this now privately owned winery lies at the foot of the magnificent Paardeberg Mountain, named after the scores of Cape Mountain Zebra that once roamed this beautiful mountainside. From a domestic perspective, Perderberg is the highest awarded winery in South Africa. The unique composition of the vineyards defines Perdebergs inimitable style covering multiple micro-climates, 75% of which are un-irrigated, whilst 50% are un-trellised, yielding a very low average of 7.8 tons per hectare.
This wine is 100% fermented and matured in small French oak barrels.Pair with dishes such as Cape Malay bobotie, chicken curry, braaied snoek or fragrant cheeses.
