Grape variety: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Tinta Barroca.
Area of production: D.O. Oporto.
Alcohol content: 20%
View: Porto Osborne 20 Years has a lovely amber color with golden highlights.
Nose: Beautifully concentrated, showing voluptuous aromas of honey, hazelnut and nuances of spice.
Mouth: Slightly sweet on the palate with a very long finish.
Serving Temperature: 17-18ºC, or cold at 7-11ºC. Magnificently slightly chilled on its own after a meal or during a relaxing time.
Pairing: A glass of slightly chilled Osborne 20 Years Old Port is excellent with crème brulée, almond cake and cheeses such as Manchego and Parmesan. Serve it with delicate foie grass as its acidity cuts perfectly the richness of the pate.
Soil: Planted on terraces cut into schistous rock on the steep hillsides
Winemaking: The grapes are completely destemmed and fermentation is carried out in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature with continuous pumping over, remontage, to maximize the extraction of color and flavours. Once the wine achieves 6%-9% abv, spirit at 77% from wine distillation is added. The fermentation stops, leaving a natural sweetness in the wine.
In the spring following the vintage, the wine is transferred to the traditional 550 litre Port casks, called “pipes”, where it´s aged for 20 years.
