No one makes lagers like the Germans, and Munich’s historic Paulaner Brewery makes some of the best. This crisp helles starts malty sweet but dries out as the hoppy, biscuit finish takes over. It’s made with all Bavarian ingredients, including hallertau, a nobel German hop used in lagers all over the world.
Established in the early 17th century by the Paulaner monks, the brewery caused quite a splash with its first beer. Their first beer, a strong bock called Salvator, was so delicious and successful that other local breweries wrote to the council asking for them to restrict its sale to save others from closing.
