Altura 350, Domaine Peter Sichel, IGP Pays de Cucugnan

Bottle notes

From Peter Sichel of the famous Bordeaux dynasty this is a blend of 52% Grenache, 24% Syrah, 24% Carignan, aged for 15 months before bottling. No chemicals are used in the vineyard, which is managed according to biodynamic and organic principles and environmental credentials include HVE Certification, lighter weight bottles and the use of recycled paper for the very stylish label.

Grown at 350 metres above sea level in Cucugnan in the South of France, this aromatic red captures the South of France in a bottle: crunchy and plummy, herby and spicy and incredible value.

“A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan from high altitude old vines, it’s crammed with rich, dark, intense, concentrated fruit with hints of vanilla, chocolate and even liquorice. It’s high in alcohol, yes, but so well made is it and so sleek and seductive and so exhilaratingly fresh, that this only enhances its considerable charm. It’s a spicy, sun-soaked wine ideal for putting a smile on a grim British winter.” - Jonathan Ray, The Spectator, December 2024.
