Chateau Larrivet Haut Brion
Château Larrivet Haut-Brion
Bottle notes
Château Larrivet Haut Brion has been renamed several time (Château de Canolle, La Rivette, and Château Brion Larrivet), until 1929 when Jacques Guillemaud, owner since 1941, decided on Larrivet Haut Brion. The estate was acquired by the Gervoson family in 1987 and covered 17 hectares of vineyards at the time. They extended the surface under vine considerably and consulted renown oenologist Michell Rolland who advised picking the grape as late as possible in order to ensure full ripeness. Today Bruno Lemoine is the Managing Director and Winemaker of the domaine. View our selection.
Vineyard & Winemaking
Today the area under vine covers 72.5 hectares; 11.5 hectares of white grape varieties and 61 ha of red. The red wines usually mature for 12 to 18 months in oak barrel.
Wines Produced
Château Larrivet Haut-Brion (grand vin), Les Demoiselles de Larrivet Haut-Brion (second vin) and les Hauts de Larrivet Haut-Brion, all available in white and red.
Product description
Château de Canolle, La Rivette, Brion-Larrivet, Haut-Brion Larrivet, the cru changed its name (and owners) several times before taking, in 1949, that of Larrivet Haut-Brion. A beautiful 75-hectare unit, owned by Philippe and Christine Gervoson since 1987.
This blend has complex aromas of blackcurrant, plum, and cedar, with hints of tobacco and spice. The palate is rich and well-balanced, featuring smooth tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, elegant finish.
