Domaine de Coquin takes it's name from the remains of the Chateau which once reared up from this piece of land, and the Domaine itself is now housed in old outbuildings from that piece of august masonry. Nowadays, they produce excellent Menetou-Salon from their Pinot and Sauvignon vines, concerned with their effect on the landscape and tat the wines are balanced. They make a range of wines, and their straight Village Menetou is absolutely great - golden in the glass, with cool citrus and flower notes on the nose. Not nearly as agressive as a Sancerre or Pouilly-Fume, the more rounded style of this is a deliciously harmonic glass of Loire Valley Sauvignon.
