The wines that make up Ferreira 10-year-old white port remain in the Douro after the harvest and then go to V. N. Gaia the following spring. The final blend is generally obtained using wines of between 8 and 15 years of age, with an average age of 10 years.
A white port which is perfect as an aperitif served slightly chilled or paired with foie-gras, strong cheese, and rich desserts such as creme brulee.
This most Portuguese of port houses with 250 years of tradition and gaining its current high reputation during the nineteenth century under the leadership of Dona Antonia Ferreira.
Acquiring Ferreira in 1987 allowed Sogrape Vinhos to immediately assume leadership of the Portuguese Porto wine market. In addition, this acquisition enhanced its portfolio with some of the most prestigious Douro table wine brands. Enriching its assets with a collection of the most important properties of the Douro Specified Region. Such as the Leda, Porto and Caedo estates.
Sogrape Vinhos was then able to preserve and enhance Ferreira’s material, historic and cultural heritage. The bond between production and trade, the understanding of tradition to modernise. The emphasis on quality as the mainstay of the brand’s prestige.
Tasting notes
Appearance: Yellow-amber hue with golden shades.
Palate: Intense and complex aromas of tropical fruit with spices arising from the long ageing in wood.
Finish: An extremely rich and long finish.
