Giuseppe Cortese Barbaresco

Bottle notes

Giuseppe Cortese has been making wines in Piedmonte since 1971, his sons and daughters now help in the winery and vineyards, and they even have a small B&B on site for visitors. Their flagship Barbaresco is a serious beast, and they have a number of different wines from around the region including Dolcetto D'Alba and here the Langhe Nebbiolo.

Aged for 18 months in Slavonian oak barrels ranging in size of 17 to 25 hectolitres and in age of 5/6 years minimum. Minimum 6 months of maturing in the bottle before being released for sale.

Tasting Note

A “classic” selection of Barbaresco D.O.C.G., grown in some parcels of the Rabajà and Trifolera vineyards. The nose has notes of rose and red cherry, leather and an earthiness. The palate is rich with crisp acidity and great minerality. Flavours of red cherry, strawberry raspberry, dried rose petals, crushed herbs with a firm tannic finish. One to leave in a decanter to relax for a couple of hours if you're enjoying now. Or cellar for another 5-10 years. Try this with game birds.
