HANEWALD-SCHWERDT MONKEY MORIO
One monkey! Much Fruit! No banana! The limestone-embossed vineyards in Leistadt and their high altitude produce a very delicate Morio type. The drinking flow, the playful floral aroma and the lightness of the grape are a great fit for today. With a wink, Monkey-Morio stands for pure joie de vivre & lightness. Why a monkey? Coincidence, a little stuffed monkey was found in the vineyard during the harvest.
It's full of fruit!! Wonderfully perfurmed, full of elderflower, gooseberry, lychee, apple, hints of pineapple and a hint of spice. Its zesty, spritzy and off dry and only 11.5% ABV. Super fresh and grapey, it would be excellent with some Thai food, or sushi or drunk just by itself in the sunshine.
Why a monkey? While working in the vineyard, a little stuffed monkey was found. This was then tied to the end of the rows of vines to give the owner the opportunity to find it again. The monkey hung there until pruning and was the first thing to be seen at harvest. He is now the Morio Muskat mascot seen on the label.
