The reclusive Alan Webster lived alone in the years after the second world war in the scrub land behind the Kilikanoon cellar door, west of the hamlet of Penwortham. Trapping rabbits, growing his own fruits and vegetables and making his own wines in a galvanised lean to, he was given the nickname 'Killerman' by Mort Mitchell and his friends when they were growing up, after Alan's bush survival skills of 'kill em and eat em', thus the legend of Killerman was born.
Colour: Brick red in colour with
youthful crimson tints.
Aroma: Enticing aromas of
earthern spices, fermented meats,
subtle oak char and incense
awaken the senses.
Palate: A seamless and noble
blend of earthiness, riper plum
notes, wood smoke and cured
meats with silky natural tannins
and classy retained acidity.
The Clare Valley's celebrated terroir and elevation instrumental in achieving the perfect ratio of fruit ripeness and natural acid retention, necessary to create wines of complexity and balance with real cellaring potential. Made in a true Rhone Valley style, all of the components were vinified and matured individually in a range of seasoned French oak hogsheads for 16 months before final assemblage and bottling unfined and unfilterd to further complement the wines appeal.
Serve with tapas sharing plates & meze, or spicy red meat dishes. Delicious with Chorizo and
porcini risotto too.
