Marrone Langhe Arneis Tre Fie 2021
Bottle notes
Agricola Marrone has been producing outstanding wines in Piemonte for four generations. The third and fourth generations run the estate today and take every care to ensure the quality of their wines… the grapes are even hand-picked into small boxes and transported to the winery on sleds to avoid them being bounced about on the back of a trailer! The wines reflect perfectly their terroir but are, at the same time supremely drinkable.
‘Tre Fie’ means three daughters in Piedmontese dialect, which refers to the three sisters running the family Marrone estate today. The grapes for this wine come from a vineyard planted in 1975. Elegantly floral and fruity on the nose with aromas of flowers, cedar and green apple. To taste, it is fresh and fruity, balanced and persistent with lovely minerality and richer flavours of hazelnut.
Jancis Robinson, Press Review: “Plump, peachy and a touch of hazelnut on the nose. Creamy, full-bodied sweetness with a strong line of fresh liquorice, in a way that reminds me of celeriac and the white crispness of freshly chopped fennel bulb. And yet it’s not herbal. It’s languid with angles, sweet fruit with bitter bones, ripe peach and noyaux. Contradictory, unexpected, delicious. I could see this working as happily with a roast root-veg winter salad in a tarragon dressing as it would with a fish pie or a fresh kohlrabi slaw”.
Food pairing
Cream Sauce, Rich Fish.
