Morelig Vineyards - Wightman & Sons A&Bs Blend
Wightman & Sons A&B's Blend
PRODUCER
Andrew Wightman moved to Môrelig (“morning light”) on the northerly, Swartland extent of the Paardeberg some seven years ago. The farm had always produced grapes for some of the area’s most celebrated winemakers but encouraged by his neighbours, Andrew and latterly his son Brandon began making wine of their own as members of the Swartland Independent movement. In keeping with the strong sustainability ethos of his vineyards, from the outset Andrew’s wines have been made intuitively and naturally, above all respecting the unique gifts bestowed by some of the nest old vines in the Swartland.
VITICULTURE + VINIFICATION
Non irrigated bushvines grown in decomposed granite soils on the foot of the Paardeberg Mountains. Grapes whole bunch hand pressed in a basket press, fermented and matured in old Oak barrels for 8 months , both components blended in a stainless steel tank for 1 month before bottling. Lightly ltered. Native yeasts used to completed the fermentation. MLF is completed naturally.
TASTING NOTE
AN EASY-DRINKING WHITE WINE WITH AN CITRIC UNDERTONE WITH A HINT OF GREEN TOMATO ON THE PALATE.
