Peter Lehmann Margaret Semillon
Peter Lehmann Margaret Barossa Valley Semillon
Bottle notes
Peter Lehmann Margaret Barossa Valley Semillon is a premium, dry white wine that hails from one of Australia's most prestigious wine regions, the Barossa Valley. This wine is made solely from 100% Semillon grapes grown in the Margaret vineyard which is among the most highly regarded vineyards in the Barossa Valley. It is a crisp and refreshing wine with a pale straw colour and a delicate aroma of citrus and peach. The palate is lively and fresh with zesty lemon and lime flavours and hints of apple. Its crisp acidity and long finish make it an ideal accompaniment to seafood, particularly oysters and crustaceans. Overall, this wine is a perfect example of the elegance and finesse that can be achieved with quality winemaking techniques, and is sure to impress even the most seasoned wine connoisseur.
Tasting Notes
While bottle ageing in the Tanunda cellars, the wine has developed an attractive bright straw colour. Aromas of lemon curd, lime rind and honey are evident on the complex nose and are complemented by hints of lanolin and beeswax on a soft rounded mid-palate that superbly balances this lively, zesty wine.
Producer
Peter Lehmann is an Australia-based wine company in the Barossa Village. Lehmann started this company in 1979 after leaving his previous wine-making job of over two decades. He put his winemaking expertise to good use, when he started his company based on trust and a great relationship with the grape growers of the Barossa Village. In one year, this winery grew to great extents to produce its first ever vintage wine.
Peter started this winery to support the grape growers of the Barossa Village and give them their rightful share of profits. Today, over 140 grape growers cultivate high-quality grapes in over 700 vineyards and sell it to Peter Lehmann Wines to make spectacular varieties of wines.
Peter Lehmann, along with a team of expert winemakers, set up its cellars at Weighbridge. The marble cellars look beautiful, and this is where the journey of a Peter Lehmann starts. Today, these cellars are one of the most sophisticated in the Barossa Village. Many types of wines such as red, white, sparkling and rose, are created in these cellars.
Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Merlot, Tempranillo, Red Blends and Shiraz Grenache are the most common varieties of grapes used for making red wines. Riesling, Semillon, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio are the grape varietals used for making white wines. Pinot Noir Chardonnay and Shiraz are used for making sparkling grapes.
Located along the banks of the North Para River, the cellars of Peter Lehmann Winery are great picnic spots. You can come here with your family to understand the history of the wines produced here and to taste the premium wines produced in this region. The 2013 Stonewell Shiraz is one of the flagship brands of this brand. This wine is regarded as one of the best wines not only in Australia but across the world as well.
