Rola Red
Rola, Red
Bottle notes
The Rola de Tinto, Douro is a 50-year-old red field blend containing varieties like Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cão. Thirty percent spent six months in new French oak barriques resulting in a powerfully structured wine, framed by a fuzziness and acid drive with abundant red fruit and liquorice. Give it a decant for it to show at its best.
Production Notes
After fermentation and malolactic conversion, 30 percent of the wine is carefully aged for nine to twelve months in new and used French oak barrels.
Producer
Ana Rola is born and raised in the Douro. Since an early age she knew she wanted to be a winemaker in the Douro Valley. Here she finds originality, unbeatable terroir and knowledge. Here, she feels, she can overcome the challenges of creating a wine that stands out from the crowd! In 2014 Ana decided to leave her post as head winemaker at a large prestigious Douro winery to go it alone. She explains: "After many years doing what I love for others, I think it got to a point that I thought ‘why not do it for myself?’." Ana Rola shared she wants "to make wines that really tell you where they came from, wine from specific vineyards with minimal intervention, wines that are true and honest."
