    Bottle notes

With the Sichel range we offer the consumer wines that are vinified with the highest levels of competence, selected with severity always representative of the label of origin and which remain affordable. They are quality wines produced to bring guaranteed pleasure.

    Background

Situated on the banks of the Gironde estuary, the appellation of Saint-Julien lies at the heart of the Haut-Médoc winegrowing area, nestled between the village appellations of Margaux and Pauillac. The wines of Saint Julien are appreciated for their exceptional cellaring qualities, elegance and harmony.

    Terrior

The terroir of Saint-Julien has many characteristics that make it propitious to produce grands vins. The vines grow on a sedimentary rock base. Although homogenous at the surface level with a cover of pebbles the subsoil is highly complex, and it is this which makes the wines of Saint-Julien so varied.

    Winemaking/Maturation

Each block is harvested separately at optimum ripeness. The grapes are picked by hand and sorted on the spot. After destemming and crushing, the grapes are vatted in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats which maintain the temperature at 28°-30°C during the alcoholic fermentation. This is followed by lengthy maceration of 2-3 weeks, after which the wine is aged in vats, then in oak barrels for 12 months. The winemaking methods are adjusted every year to suit the characteristics of the harvest. The wine is bottled with the utmost care; its oenological qualities are monitored, and care is taken to ensure that quality is even across the entire batch.

    Tasting Notes

Dark colour with purple reflections. The bouquet of this Saint-Julien is very inviting, it displays freshness and notes of raspberries and mint, supported by aromas of red plums, violets and noble spices. Elegant on the palate with notes of blackcurrant and perfectly balanced tannins. A very pleasing wine with a promising future.

    Ageing

Ready for drinking from 2023. It can be enjoyed either in its youth or after further ageing (7 to 8 years).
